Growing up in a small town in Mississippi, I've always had the desire to move away and do " Bigger things".
Technology turned out the be the biggest "thing" to make those dreams and thoughts become realities. When I was 16, I took my first coding class in high school and although I didn’t fully understand it at the time, I knew by just being in that class that working with technology was something I’d eventually have my hands in.
Over the years, I've found that tech has been the best way for me to stay sharp and expand my abilities for problem solving and critical thinking. I find so much joy in being able to assess a situation and provide an effective solution through creating a system that addresses the specific environment. That didn’t come over night though.
I got “back on track “after college by deciding to take courses on the fundamentals of IT and networking at a nonprofit organization called Tech901. This is where I developed a deeper understanding of systems, troubleshooting and critical thinking. They also assisted me with the evolution of my soft skills.
Upon completing their program, I found myself falling in love with security frameworks and the returns those kinds of roles often provide. A friend exposed me to Governance, Risk, and Compliance and since then I’ve been completely absorbed into it mastering the PCI Framework.
If I don’t know anything else, I know that education is a lifelong and on-going process. Keeping that at the forefront of my mind (as often as possible) I’ve been able to consistently grow in my career and change the trajectory of not only my family but my friends’ families as well.
A dependable and knowledgeable PCI SME with a range of experience delivering assessments for high level environments. Looking to further my skill sets and career by providing value and problem solving in the risk management and compliance spaces. Focused on constantly improving risk analysis processes, limiting scope and reducing attack surfaces through framework implementation, and client protection through compliance based approaches and systems.
My most relevant sources of education come from Baxter Clewis Cybersecurity and Qualys. At BC, I took a deep dive into the DSS in this program and gained valuable hours of experience through the internship process. While at Baxter Clewis I also began taking courses at Qualys. I began doing exercises where I could apply what I was learning via labs and carried those teachings over into BC.
