Lucky Mdiniso

Lucky Mdiniso is a meticulous individual who prides himself in always delivering quality work. He has rail industry experience of over 28 years and has had exposure in the technologies utilised by Prasa, Gautrain and Spoornet (now Transnet Freight Rail). He has excellent interpersonal skills which he has managed to demonstrate time and again during Driver Training and Train Coordination activities.

Lucky's train driving experience spans over a period of 17 years and has made him the most suitable person to train upcoming drivers. Amongst others, Lucky has singlehandedly managed to train 40 drivers at Braamfontein Depot within a space of 4 months. He has over a 10-year period conducted Part 4 Training (i.e., on the job training) for rail personnel at Wolmerton and Pretoria Depots.

He has been trained and has also mastered operating the 5M2, 10M4, 10M5 locomotives vacuum brake system. Further on, he has been trained to operate the movement of Electrical Motor Unit (EMU). Lucky's aptitude and understanding of various train technologies, resilience, people skills, patience and eagerness to learn makes him an asset for any organisation.

Train Service Coordinator - PRASA

• Perform Coordination duties - Grant authorization for line occupations to various departments and contractors
• Monitor trains and log all reasons for delays
• Make adjustments in the event of a disruption or delay continuing with the service
• Monitor YQ compliance and notices done by the Chief Admin Official
• Cancel YQ's as and when the need arises
• Issues emergency YQs and risk assessment in accordance with received reports
• Attend to problems occurring on the Metro Lines affecting the running of Metro and MLPS Trains
• Arrange the availability of a spare train set if required
• Ensure that notices are distributed to all relevant personnel
• Arrange and monitor contract buses in cases of emergency with Customer Services Inspector in the Centralized Traffic Control Office
• Ensure that Selector Clerks record all delays
• Discuss all occupations in Centralized Traffic Control office with personnel and approve them
• Inform all the members of the Standby Team when there has been an incident/accident or disaster
• Attend all Occupations, Time keeping, Level One and Depot meetings
• Request feedback from relevant departments to ensure that scheduled services are not interrupted i.e., ensuring all train personnel are on duty
• Keep statistics on the running of Metro and MLPS train services as well as delays and cancellations
• Capture all incidents resulting in delays on Train Delay Management System
• Report incidents to all line managers involved and keep records in the handbook
• Control and co-ordinate all Act 85 aspects and Safety Campaigns in the Centralized Traffic Control Centre
