I am an experienced, resilient, enthusiastic, organised and proactive general manager in the hospitality industry. I am extremely target driven and will pull out all the stops to achieve targets keeping within strict budgets. Thus far I have proven track record of managing large teams of 25 plus members of staff and understand how to get the most out of every individual which I believe to be an integral transferable skill when it comes to sales and customer service.
I have a strong work ethic, extremely target driven, and am quick to learn and adapt to new environments and business ventures.
General Manager at The Holt Bar and Terrace (2024-11 – Present)
Customer Services Assistant at Bradleys Estate Agents (2023-06 – Present)
I took this position in order to seek a new career away from hospitality. I wanted a position that was target driven and would test my transferable skills. Since joining, I have earned the most referrals each month out of all employees and have surpassed, sometimes doubled targets.
This has confirmed for me that I do want a career in sales. My motivation to hit targets and in turn earn commission, my personable and approachable manner, and my ability to speak to anyone from all walks of life makes me the ideal candidate for such a role.
General Manager at City Gate Hotel Exeter (Youngs & Co Brewery) (2020-01 – Present)
This is a demanding role overseeing the general management of the hotel, bar, restaurant, kitchen and events team both operationally and practically. I, as GM along with our team have achieved the best year financially ever at the City Gate in 2021 during a pandemic which I believe is testament to our ability to adapt and rise to any obstacle in our path.
Bar Manager at The Bank And Number Nine (2018-05 – Present)
This role includes managing all forms of social media, recruitment, staff training, event management, chef and kitchen management. I split my working week between the kitchen and the bar and with doing so have gained experience managing a busy kitchen with up to 150 covers a day on big sport days, keeping the kitchen in line with food safety regulations, food stock control and food PnL.
Deputy Manager / Sales and marketing Manager at Fever Clubrooms Nuneaton (2018-01 – 2018-05)
In a Bar Fever Venue in the midlands, this role included all duties mentioned above in previous Bar fever employments. Focussing mainly on sales, customer relations and the VIP experience. I exceeded all targets set even during extreme weather conditions which in turn results in significantly fewer customers.
This venue was extremely successful, capacity of 1000 patrons and a venue that I solely managed for 1 month to cover holiday taken by the GM. I'm proud of what I achieved at this venue and would now like to take my sales experience to a completely different revenue, having worked within the late night time economy for the past 8 years im ready and excited for a change.
Supervisor at The Bank And Number Nine (2017-02 – 2018-01)
Working closely with management to ensure excellent customer service is given at all times, that all standards in terms of cleanliness, health and safety and presentation of beverages and foods are to standard. This role was taken on due to change of circumstance and to further my experience in a different form of entertainment by being responsible for booking live events, serving food and sometimes preparing food, hosting the pre late night crowds. I don't feel that as much as I give 110% effort to this role I'm working to my full potential and therefore hoping to gain re- employment in the nightclub trade.
Assistant Manager at Fever, Boutique & Kukui Exmouth (2016-03 – 2017-02)
Working alongside 2 GMs, both very experienced and highly skilled in different areas which allowed me to grow and develop my skills further. Being a seaside town business was typically seasonal focussing intensely on increasing footfall during the winter months by means of travelling to surrounding cities with promotions, adverts on local radio, sponsorship of local sports teams, maintaining crucial relations with the Royal Marines and staff of the local holiday park. At my time here we earned the award presented by the Exmouth Chamber of 'New Business Of The Year' which was a very proud moment.
General Manager (holding) at Fever & Boutique Bridgwater (2016-01 – 2016-03)
Due to the closure of Fever and Boutique Taunton I was given the opportunity to assist in the opening and management of this venue. I was acting GM for a number of weeks and was later offered this position on a permanent basis, due to circumstances at the time this career path wasn't right for me. This venue was challenging as we were up against a very well established nightclub.
By aggressive street promotions, focussing on bottle sales and upselling We/I was able to maximise revenue on the little footfall we had, whilst always striving to improve admits week on week. Within this employment I undertook a social media course, how to use social media effectively, how to reach your desired target audience, and took an extensive course on how to use the footfall direct tool which included methods on how to collect data.
Assistant Manager at Fever & Boutique Taunton (2014-03 – 2016-01)
And for a while the only nightclub in town. My drive and determination to do well in my position quickly earned me the role of Club Supervisor and shortly after Assistant Manager. This was a challenging role and I learnt a lot, quickly.
Working closely with the General Manager I learnt every aspect of the day to day running of the business, fine details of a successful well managed trade and was soon capable and trusted to do both alone with guidance. During my time at this venue I earned my personal licence, Emergency first aid at work, and Cellar Management qualifications. There was a heavy focus on promotions and marketing making use of many medias creating professional relations with local businesses and residents of the town and surrounding areas.
It was key to create and maintain a good relationship with local authorities such as licensing, emergency services, town Pubwatch and CCTV. Gaining revenue with the sale of party packages and booth upgrades by proactively contacting and negotiating with local businesses was an area I excelled in. I was given the opportunity to create and host events on specific nights to drive the business forward on quieter nights with success.
Due to unforeseen circumstances I was allowed to run a number of nights on my own with trust in my abilities from both the General Manager and the operations director with positive results.
