Dear sir/madam,
I wish to support my application for the role of internal recruiter at Wessex Water with the following cover letter.
I have 5 years experience split between technical/engineering agency recruitment and internal recruitment within electronics design and systems engineering within compound semiconductor industry.
Many of my clients have been defence and technically regulated roles. These relationships have been built from scratch with companies with Tier 1 OEM's. Primarily recruitment has been sonar/radar systems and sensor led power electronics. I have also recruited risk surveyors, manufacturing coordinators and test/implementation engineers in this field.
Within my last role as an internal recruiter the focus has been on Photonics, Rf, Advanced Packaging and EV Power rectifier design. Csa Catapult operated to bridge the gap between academia and industry and conducted design feasibility studies. As a result specifications for roles were quite often unproven concepts and involved me recruiting worldwide for the next leaders in the field.
Partnerships with universities pre-existed my time there but I was regularly involved in collaboration skills projects and regularly attended UCL to engage careers practitioners, lecturers and partake in conferences/seminars. Awareness of regulated markets such as aerospace and defence as we often worked in partnership with Tier 1 OEM’s such as Airbus and Siemens. As the solitary recruiter working in partnership with some of these companies on delivery of projects we often had to orchestrate the recruitment functions to ensure skills matrix coverage.
Within the role I reduced time to hire from 130 days down to 45 days through careful management and regular engagement with manager. Always available for discussion/guidance and implemented procedure individual to each hiring manager meeting their specific needs. Repeatedly involved in board level discussions on market conditions and notifying all stakeholders of recruitment progress.
I also ensured for new managers that additional time for training and support as required was given and would happily be in the office approachable to deal with any situations to arise. Likewise potential applicants given as much time as needed and support to make the right decision for their career. I’m very hands on and believe in getting to know the candidates background motivations to relate to them and not being a pushy salesman has been vital to my success.
Additionally to my recruitment role; I supported the Hr function completing Visa applications, relocation packages, implemented at new ATS system and oversaw all onboarding processes including policy review. I also worked closely with marketing to reach new advertising audiences primarily through adoption of LinkedIn and encouraged managers to be central focus for all recruitment drives.
Finally I have implemented a Psl having reduced agency spend significantly and streamlined the number of recruitment partners used. Our goal was to always recruit internally where possible or headhunt directly but again hands on management of these partners ensured all parties were satisfied and pushed in right direction.
