I am looking for a role as a Mechanical Engineer. In this role, I will be a self‑motivated, high‑performing individual who strives for excellence. I am passionate and motivated to learn, and I am excited to put my experience into practice. I thrive when encountering new challenges, and I enjoy all experiences. I have recently relocated to London from New Zealand, another challenge that I tackled to grow as an engineering professional.
My technical skills have been outlined in my CV, however, I am enthusiastic and determined to upskill and learn new software and design tools. I am driven and hardworking and therefore, actively go beyond my responsibilities to help achieve deadlines. I believe these qualities and other CAD experience will aid me in learning AutoCAD for the role.
At my previous internship, with Pratt and Whitney, I independently learned coding in SQL and Qlik Sense software. The team was unfamiliar with the software but I enjoyed the challenge and self‑development.
I initially pursued mathematics and physics at university, but I later realised that practical applications of knowledge is what I was most interested in. Engineering quickly became a passion of mine as I dived into a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering. My technical projects were very practical and I learnt unique skills applicable to detailed engineering design and the specific considerations required to produce a safe final product that meets design specifications.
My internships and university projects allowed me to become very experienced in operating within a collaborative team environment, a skill that I find very necessary within engineering. I have thoroughly enjoyed working in such team environments as pooling knowledge benefits everybody involved and it provides the best opportunity to learn. However, I believe working independently is a great opportunity for individual creativity and therefore working both as a team and independently is important for personal development.
Taking on the new challenge of team leader of my final year project has aided in this process of self‑development.
I would be grateful for the opportunity to work as a part of the team. I am eager to call and discuss my skills and enthusiasm for the engineering role.
