Looking to move into the analytics sector and a consultation or storytelling role. Passion for data and utilizing to find creative solutions
Guildford A versatile and self-motivated general manager of 5 years. Having spent the majority of my management career with Fuller’s, my key focuses were generating top line revenue whilst minimising costs, building a dedicated and high performing team, and networking with both senior members of the company and local businesses. The 5 years of being a general manager saw me record two consecutive record weeks in my first year, followed by record winter seasonal sales.
This was followed up by a record week the following year, cementing the work I’d done to embed constant improvement and growth within the business.
Following on from these successes, I’m now looking to move into a diverse and exciting job within the analytics sector, and use the lateral thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as my ability to consult with clients, that have made me successful in my current roles in an industry which I’ve got a real interest and passion in pursuing and excelling in.
I’m a conscientious, articulate person with excellent problem-solving skills. I’ve worked with computers most of my career, being proficient in Microsoft Word, advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
I’ve used Microsoft Power Bi for 2 years, focusing on labour spend, top line revenue and KPI’s. Utilizing this application, I’ve managed to reduce team costs by 5/10% whilst measuring and achieving growth of up to 30% for key sales days.
I have trained in writing code, with in depth knowledge in SQL
Business Operations A large part of the reason for my success over the past has been my ability to forward plan, and set procedures in place to aid in maximising my KPI’s. Some of my key operations were:
I conducted weekly meetings with heads of departments to realign our core values, discuss focus for the weeks ahead, and to offer any insight and training requirements so that everyone within the business was performing to their highest ability. These really helped to develop and grow the various departments and the individuals within them.
I conducted monthly presentations of business outlook and future focus’, including sales-based drives and achievements. These meetings would sometimes include investment requests, highlighting where and when the return on investment would be received.
I liaised with clients on a number of different areas, including tailored customer-specific events. These events have generated up to 10% of our annual revenue and have continued to be a key focus of mine throughout my different businesses.
I’m responsible for recruitment and training of new employees. This is especially important during the off season, where I not only see the hard skills, but also the soft skills a potential team member holds, and make informed decisions on who I see developing into the role most successfully. I hold a strong belief in the fact that it’s easier to train skills then to train the correct attitude and work ethic.
I keep an open-door policy and conduct regular coffee chats with my team, helping me to better understand their specific needs and training desires. It’s important to keep a team constantly developing and growing, something I take great pride in achieving.
I’ve worked on a highly intuitive bookings system, which helped to maximise footfall whilst reducing workload on the team. Analysed peak trading times to ensure system was operating correctly and efficiently.
I’ve managed a number of databases to ensure accurate stock control and par level ordering, as well as creating a structured sales chart with pricing and gp% data in order to maximise bottom line profit.
