I am an enthusiastic F1 fan and a catering and events staff. I have a passion for delivering quality events and meeting targets. I am experienced with delivering results on budget and on time. For the past few years, most of my work has been on a voluntary, or part time basis, as I have had to balance work with raising a family and supporting my son in his career as a racing driver.
My children have now grown and move on with their own careers and I have the time to recommit to a full-time role. Whilst, not working full time in the last few years, I have still been actively involved in both motorsports, and organising events. While my experience is not the most current, I am aware of the needs and expectations of VIP clients, having worked with them frequently in the past.
I am a strong team player, with creative ideas and with a background of understanding how, to book and organise events. I have become increasingly familiar with alternative forms of communicating with clients, from traditional social media, to streaming service such as Twitch and virtual conferencing with services, such as Teams and Zoom. As a former teaching assistant, I am always aware of the need for clear and engaging communication.
I am familiar with the layouts and timings of events, and how to deliver the best experience possible around these constraints and an excellent problem solver.
I have been involved in events based around motorsport, and luxury brands for over 20 years. Most recently, as chair of a School Charity, I had several years organising fund raising events, and the organisation itself. I moved the group from many very small unfocused events to several larger and much more profitable ones (Commercial Christmas Fairs, and Summer Fetes).
I specialised in bringing in local partners and supporting local businesses to a mutual benefit. The events were able to raise funds for specific projects and provide improved facilities for the school.
Most of my background is in commercial catering operations for large companies such as Compass and Sodexho. For those companies I have managed both individual units, and large groups Gatwick Airport Catering running the airport bars airside. I have provided management for Catering to hundreds of people daily.
I have a solid understanding of budgets, and how best to cater for large numbers of people at a range of price points. I also managed the Catering Department at ITN in London for a small independent Contractor.
The highlight of my career so far was working at Harvey Nichols in London. Here I was a Food Hall Manager, with overall responsibility for the Food Retail department, and focused on the Charcuterie and Sandwich provisions. I had frequent contact with VIPs and high net worth individuals.
Here I tailored the experience to meet their needs. I learned a great deal about quality ingredients and made many contacts in the food industry. I am particularly interested in ethically and traceably sourced products.
I was a buyer for my department, with responsibility for budgets and sourcing. I worked with wide range of suppliers, to provide the best products to customers and to bring the stories behind the products to the public. I worked hard with my team to educate, train and develop.
I am pleased to say that over the years I have kept in contact with many of them and have been delighted to see them grow and take on many varied roles.
I am passionate about all aspects of the hospitality industry. Organising events and providing on trend and on brand themes as a part of a team is what drives me. While I have been away from the front line for a few years, I am highly motivated and flexible.
