I fulfil many tasks within my role. I support my manager and I am entrusted to provide leadership to the team where needed. I ensure medication is given correctly and in line with policies and procedures.
I also take responsibility to ensure the individuals money is correct. I am entrusted to write support plans and risk assessments. I work with many different individuals and take great pride in learning about them.
This helps me create a good working relationship with the individual and makes supporting them more enriching for them. When I requested a transfer to another home I took a demotion from senior to support worker I have since been promoted to senior again. Some of the usual tasks involve assisting with daily living, especially in the area of meal preparation, cleaning and other activities that the people I support may not be able to undertake on their own.
I also work at teaching those I support how to become more independent. I also need to complete financial spreadsheets and medication Mar charts.

Within my role I was responsible for ensuring the residents had what they needed, calling any appropriate professional and administering medication. I also provided personal care, continence care and emotional support to any client that needed it. I needed to complete relevant paperwork and use the handheld system to input the record for the day.
As a senior I also handled residents one-to-one meetings. During the night shifts there was a small amount of cleaning, cooking and laundry to complete.

I am responsible for making sure the people I support have the correct amount of monthly medication and ensure they are receiving the right amount of money. I am also responsible for ensuring they understand and pay for the necessities of living such as water bills etc.
