I also learnt how to medically wash and bandage ulcerated legs and preventative care including compression stockings. I managed the schedule and administered daily medications, including controlled drugs, with vigilance for adverse drug interactions and doctor or pharmacist's instructions.I also managed and organised appointments and some household finances.
I was frequently my client's chaperone and advocate during appointments where their health and mental health could make communication and comprehension difficult for both sides.

I was expected to run the shop alone whilst the owner ran the post office. This included being a cashier, restocking shelves and taking inventory.This included taking in the order from a local bakery and separating out pre-ordered from the general stock. Similarly I did this for newspapers put on hold. Prescriptions were also delivered from the local GP to the shop and sometimes needed to be organised between home delivery and collection.
I also operated the Pay Zone payment system and media rental service.
