I am an energetic individual who is seeking a new challenge abroad with a view to broaden my knowledge and take on a challenge. I am currently a student teacher undertaking my PGCE in the United Kingdom, hoping to gain my QTS by July 2023.
I have gained valuable experience working in nurseries, some activities involved were reading, circle time, assessing and admin work. I was quick to attain various skills such as multi-tasking, problem solving and observations. I believe multi-tasking is a vital skill because it is important that every child remains safe especially in a primary school setting with KS1 children.
Additionally, I believe from my college course which I completed in Health and Social Care has provided me with conceptual knowledge which I believe will assist me to become a highly skilled teacher. Health and Social Care relates to teaching in several ways. A topic I recall learning about is making reasonable adjustments according to individuals’ needs.
This relates closely to teaching because I may have to make reasonable adjustments according to students’ needs. For example, ensuring wheelchair users have easy access to the class and students with learning difficulties have the correct equipment such as covered overlays. Moreover, whilst completing my undergraduate degree in Education Studies I noticed a correlation as this links to some of the modules like ‘No child left behind 'and the ‘Primary Curriculum.’ These modules have taught me various strategies I can use within a classroom.
During my time at university, I joined a school agency where I worked with different schools around Luton. This position gave me an insight in a school and teaching environment. This first-hand experience has allowed me to get a better understanding of various abilities and how we can use that information to make necessary adjustments to my teaching styles.
Moving forward, I am currently completing my PGCE at a Master’s level and I hope to gain my QTS by July 2023. During my PGCE placement I have gained a variety of knowledge and skills including understanding and dealing with behaviour management, professionalism, adaptive practice, and pedagogical knowledge. I believe these skills will help me become an outstanding candidate for this job role.
During my placement I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Key Stage 1 pupils where I have observed them learning and reaching their targets.
