Experience

Staff Motor Design Engineer at Moog Inc. (2022-08 – Present)

  • Designed various motors for Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA).
  • Worked with suppliers to ensure smooth transition from design to manufacturing.
  • Supported design verification and validation testing of CCA motors.
  • Designed various solenoid brakes for military applications.
  • Authored motor design standards to help young engineers design motors.
  • Mentored interns for motor design projects.

Senior Motor Design Engineer at Moog Inc. (2019-01 – 2022-08)

  • Designed radial flux PM motors for an internal ePropulsion application.
  • Designed a challenging weight optimized high torque fault tolerant PM motor for air taxi application for Volocopter. The motor performed successfully and was used on manned test flight.
  • Developed at supplier site, a repeatable process to produce high yield production motors for Volocopter.
  • Supported design verification and validation testing of the Volocopter motor.
  • Supported existing products by resolving manufacturing issues at the suppliers.

Senior Motor Design Engineer at Baker Hughes, a GE Company (2017-07 – 2019-01)

  • Designed Permanent Magnet Motors (PMM) for Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) application for pumping oil.
  • Developed a circuit based numerical design tool in Matlab for designing PMM for ESP applications.
  • Worked closely with the controls team for efficient design of PMM drive algorithm.
  • Worked on establishing the design practices for PMM design.

Advanced Lead Electromagnetic Engineer at GE Aviation (2013-09 – 2017-07)

Senior member of the team responsible for all electromagnetic designs. Led designs for multiple machines up to 200kW. Customers include GE Aviation, BAE Systems, Sikorsky, UTAS and GE Transportation.

  • Designed 777X Ram Air Turbine (RAT) generator for a proposal for Hamilton Sundstrand.
  • Led the effort to build and test multiple prototypes of Hybrid Homopolar (HHP) Permanent Magnet (PM) generator for BAE Systems' Hawk application.
  • Led the proposal for a small gas turbine FADEC PMA for a helicopter application which was awarded to GE. Successfully completed and verified design, which transitioned to production.
  • Leading the effort to design Improved Turbine Engine Program (ITEP) PMA with GE Aviation team at Lynn, MA.
  • Led and/or actively participated in several internal IR&D projects.
  • Actively involved in new supplier selection and the main point of contact for existing suppliers to answer any technical questions.

RF Electrical Engineer at GE Healthcare, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) (2009-06 – 2013-08)

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for numerical electromagnetics. Advanced user of High Frequency Structural Simulator (HFSS), Matlab, and Advanced Design System (ADS).
  • Design engineer for Radio Frequency (RF) body coils for MRI application. Worked closely with suppliers, sourcing, and manufacturing from initial design to production and then to service. Completed successful designs for GE's new products.
  • Led various projects both NPI (New Product Introduction) and ATD (Advanced Technology Design).
  • Published frequently in International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), the leading research focused conference in the area of MRI.
  • Received "CTO (Chief Technology Officer) Award" in 2010 for RF body coil design contributions.

RF Design and Development Engineer at GE Healthcare, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) (2007-10 – 2009-05)

  • Cross functional role to integrate MRI surface coils (both, made by GE and outside vendors). Worked with hardware, software, manufacturing, sourcing, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs teams along with outside vendors to lead integration of the RF surface coils.
  • Received 'Healthcare Heroes" award in 2008 for exceptional performance.
