As a GIS Mapping Specialist at ESG, I play a key role in supporting a wide variety of projects through the creation, analysis, and management of geospatial data. I collaborate with team members to produce high-quality maps, spatial analyses, and data visualizations that help inform decision-making across environmental, engineering, planning, and compliance initiatives.
Some of my key responsibilities include. Developing and maintaining GIS databases, layers, and geospatial assets using ESRI software including ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro. Integrate and manage geospatial data from various sources (e.g., satellite imagery, CAD files, LiDAR, survey data). Lastly, reading and interpreting complex legal description to accurately produce maps for clients to use during field work.
In my professional career I’ve worked in a wide variety of positions. Beginning in a soils lab conducting various tests on soils to determine key characteristics that help engineers make critical building decisions. Moving to writing Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessment reports building my technical writing and problem solving skills.
I then transitioned to an environmental consulting role where I developed an ability to conduct field work and gather accurate data in a real world scenario. I used real world data I collected to then create accurate and useful maps on ArcGIS software. Lastly, in my current role I‘ve expanded on my GIS knowledge and developed a knack for interpreting complex legal descriptions into polygons in ArcMap. while furthering my skills in GIS data management.
