I am a results-driven finance professional with extensive experience empowering employers to improve profitability, productivity, and business processes. I am an expert in finance activities associated with grants administration, budget compliance, and financial reporting. Supporting the meaningful work of change agents in government, business, healthcare, faith-based, and non-profit organizations has been the hallmark of my career and most profound passion.
Since 2008, I have been employed by Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH) in Columbus, Ohio, as a Senior Financial Analyst in the specialty clinics and a Sponsored Projects Officer in the Research Institute. Before joining NCH, I owned and operated Brainstorms Inc., a business consulting service in Columbus, Ohio, from 1991 to 2008. Early in my career (1986-1991), I worked for the Ohio Department of Development Small and Developing Business Division as an Intern, then was progressively promoted to Management Analyst and Manager.
In 1989, the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce recruited me to work as a Project Director for a federally funded business program.
I am a lifelong learner. I earned my bachelor's degree in political science from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA (1984), and a master's degree in public administration from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio (1986). These degrees equipped me to function in roles requiring analytical, research, public policy, finance, and administrative skills.
I also have two graduate degrees (master's and doctorate) from Trinity Lutheran Seminary (2003) and Dallas Theological Seminary (2023). These degrees have equipped me to apply my professional skills in faith-based, community, and non-profit organizations that deliver services to support people's social, economic, and spiritual well-being.
