Connor Downs

Hi my name is Connor Downs, and I’m a business major at the Isenberg school of management. I am interested in an operations role to gain more important skills this upcoming summer. In my role in lead generation this past spring, I generated leads through email and database research. By targeting these companies specifically, I became better at targeting leads with research in mind. In my role as sales associate over the summer, I learned to assist customers and manage product deliveries. This experience led me to develop relations with customers and handle their supplies long term. At the core of these experiences is the sales call method I learned from the sales club. I have participated in multiple competitions and helped with the marketing for the sales club with this method. I am very motivated and willing to work hard at any company. That being said, my long term goal is to be an operations or marketing employee at an up and coming company.

I mentioned I have done two internships. One at Fastenal and one at EpiCenter. Both of these have revolved around sales roles. I decided I wanted to switch into operations this year because I think that it is a better fit for me - however, I still learned a lot from my roles in sales. I picked up on a lot of useful communication skills, and also got experience with inventory and computer systems at Fastenal.

I am a sophomore at UMass Amherst majoring in operations at Isenberg school of management. I am in the honors college. I have taken several classes in OIM, and have my excel badge.
