My ability to increase the average Case Mix Index (CMI) through the capture of comorbidities and appropriate documentation, while maintaining best practice inpatient DRG accuracy rates of 95% and Candidate Final Bill (CFB) goals. Coding works closely with Revenue Integrity to resolve third party claim denials and appeals and adjudications. Partnering with Patient Financial Services, I specialize in extensive workflow improvements with billing, payment posting, and collections processes resulting in substantial reduction in aging AR.

I work to significantly decrease registration denials by completing payer plan mapping within Real Time Eligibility and implementation of Medicare Replacement Chaining. By building partnerships with the medical staff office, medical director physicians, and collaboration with various service line managers, Health Information Management has reduced average delinquencies from $4M to $1M per week. Annual employee engagement scores increased from the 30th percentile to the 80th percentile, while achieving a 100% participation rate.

I earned a doctorate in organizational change and leadership from the University of Southern California in December of 2021. My dissertation entitled, “Avoidance of Inpatient Medical Necessity Denials for Short-Stay Admissions: An Evaluative Study,” was nominated for Distinguished Dissertation of the Year.
