My name is Daniel Alfonso-Diaz. I grew up in Wayne PA, after moving there from New England. I graduated from Radnor High School and went to The College of Wooster for my B.A. in Neuroscience. Quickly after I realized I did not like the laboratory lifestyle, I moved to Miami where I volunteered for an Americorps sponsored company City Year.
There I worked in middle and high schools finding my passion for working with students. I moved back to King of Prussia and studied at Eastern University for a ME.D in school counseling.
My personal philosophy for counseling can be summarized best through a quote from Albert Einstein, "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." The education system currently in place tries and funnel students through testing, reading and math scores and face track paced teaching. Not all students learn the same, and not all students process emotions the same.
It is my duty as a school counselor to ensure every student is treated with respect and given the appropriate amount of attention. While I know I cannot help every student in the world, I can certainly try.
