Karen Petty

I have been teaching for over 20 years. I have a Master's degree in English and a certification in Special Education. I have taught every grade from pre-k through college level. I have taught special education for the majority of my carrier.

I have more than twenty years of teaching experience. Most of my teaching experience has been in Special Education resource where I have worked with students with various disabilities and diagnoses including: Specific Learning Disability, Autism, Other Health Impairment, Down Syndrome, Asbergers, Severe Emotional Disability, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, ADD, ADHD, Developmentally Delayed, Depression, Anxiety, and Bipolar Disorder.

I have a Master’s degree in English, a Bachelor’s degree in English Education, and a certification in Special Education. Additionally, I have almost forty hours of post graduate studies in both Special Education and Administrative Leadership.

I have experience teaching in the resource setting, self-contained setting, co-teaching setting, and inclusion setting. I have literally taught every grade from pre-kindergarten to college level.

I taught English Composition 101 and 102 at Northwestern State University at Ft. Polk, La. I taught English as a Second Language at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La. where I worked with international college students.
