My name is MacKenzie Hovland. I fell in love with pharmacy and the medication profession after my own experience as a patient learning the aspects of the med world. It inspired me and gave me a drive to make a difference in patient’s lives. I am a skilled multitasker, with a willingness to learn. I overcome any obstacles that appear before me with my resourcefulness, and I push my team to face problems head on through my positive outlook.
I was a student intern at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital (2/24-4/24) where I learned how to use the Omnicell medication system, I was trained in aseptic compounding - medium risk media passed, and I have expertise in filling cassettes.
I was a student intern at St. Elizabeth's Hospital (4/24-5/24) where I learned how to use the Pyxis medication system, I experienced how to do medication histories and interviews with patients, and actively sought out new learning opportunities with medications - anesthesia trays, oral syringes, etc.
I went to Southeast Community College (May 2024) where I got a Pharmacy Technician Diploma and became a Certified Pharmacy Technician. I learned many things, including sterile and nonsterile compounding and pharmacy calculations/dispensing.
