Pupils singing "Despacito" and not paying attention to anything I was saying.
It was a chaotic classroom and as their teacher
I felt frustrated. No matter what I did, they had their own world.
I had to report to their parents about their progress and about what they had learned that day.
"What should I do"? I've asked myself.
I had to observe my pupils. The things they did. Their behavior and their actions.
The next day, I made sure to start my lesson with a review and a game they were playing the other day.
They were participative. Yes, I got their ATTENTION!
As we progressed with our lesson, I incorporated singing Despacito.
They could sing and dance, if they were able to answer my questions correctly.
Once again, I got their ATTENTION!
CONTENT CREATION, is just like TEACHING!
You have to observe what your audience do,
What they want to consume and the things that interest them.
You have to incorporate that DESPACITO in your audience to get their ATTENTION.
And start building your community from there!
