- Coordinate with unit mechanical and process engineers, contractors, maintenance and operation personnel as required on various matters including inspection code requirements, condition of equipment, recommendations on repairs and quality of workman ship.

- Checking the material before being fit up is in accordance with the drawing / WPS, identified and can be traced to a mill certificate, and free from damage and contamination
- Ensuring WPS's have been approved and are available to welder and welding inspectors
- Check that welding equipment is in suitable condition and calibrated as appropriate
- Check the welding jobs preparation such as fit ups are in accordance with WPS and drawing
- Check the validity of welders and their identification that qualified for each WPS to be used.
- Check that welding consumable to be stored and controlled as specified by the QC procedures.
- Ensure joint fit-ups are in accordance with WPS and drawing.
- Ensure tack welds are to good workmanship standard and to Code and WPS.
