I am a 7 year Educator who has been working in Museum Education for the last 3. Over the last five years, I have designed and taught lesson plans for hundreds of students in K-12 and university classrooms. I am passionate about making learning accessible and interesting.
My formal education is in history, I spent 6 years between my bachelors and masters degrees developing research skills, historical literacy, and learning history pedagogy. I am also the Assistant Director of Youth and Children at a church in Los Angeles. In this role, I help lead the youth and children's programs.
I have been in this role for 2 years. I am skilled at program development and management, educator training, pedagogy training, content research, lesson plan and curriculum writing, project management, program evaluation and learning assessment, and teaching.
I have spent 2 years teaching students history at the college level. I have spent 3 years as a curriculum developer and educator the Natural History Museum. In my time here, I have developed standards-based programs for K-12 students in classrooms.
These programs are object based and developed using museum collections for students to develop better understanding of paleontology, marine biology, archeology, and, anthropology. I am also the Assistant Director of Youth and Children at Westwood United Methodist Church, where in collaboration with the directors, I oversee all programs for birth through 12th graders.
I have a bachelor's in History and Social Science and a MA in History. In my time in graduate school I took a course on teaching history and taught 12 semester long sessions of American History.
