Technical Writer by Day, Career Coach and Counselor by Night, Maker and Builder
I have a passion for ham radio, electronics and automotive/mechanical technology. Working at the NASA Mission Control public information office during Space Shuttle missions is one of my most memorable experiences.
Writing, documenting, explaining, teaching and selling technical products are my most powerful passions. My teen age ham radio hobby influenced my life and continues today, turning my personal interests into an interesting and fun writing, editing, marketing and selling career. Working with technical products I love makes me excited about coming to work every day.
My most memorable career event is an example of this. As a consultant Public Information Officer (PIO) for NASA Mission Control during three Space Shuttle missions, my radio hobby and experience in writing, editing, marketing communications and journalism helped me write informative news releases and accurate responses to news reporters from around the world. As a personal bonus, the astronauts were licensed ham radio operators. Hundreds of articles based on our news releases and interviews emphasized the educational value of ham radio and electronics and its viability as an emergency communication system for the space program.
