My career has included consistent improvements in the safe supply of food throughout the food supply chain. I have delivered on a wide range of food projects on time and within budget with UK and international large and small food & drink suppliers.
Following a BSc. Fish Processing degree, I developed practical hands on skills at a variety of management levels within the fish processing industry. Overseas experience managing a small-scale fish freezing plant in Papua New Guinea was followed by development of managerial, technical sales and diagnostic activities to a wide spectrum of food and drink manufacturing companies.
I developed and part delivered and sold a variety of food legislation training, including the 10 day Asda Food Safety course and many Food Technology Centre food legislation workshops from QUID, HACCP, Pack Labelling and EU/ FDA / other regulatory compliance for the import and export of foodstuffs.
Government authorities that I have worked with include the Food Standards Agency, Defra, Trading standards and representatives of overseas government authorities. Projects have included pack print regulations and resolving variances between inter-government requirements regarding food pack content.
From my activities within European Link and industry projects I have a global network of contacts that can provide me with in country requirements for the safe & legal supply of foodstuffs.
I have advised many food companies regarding microbial and chemical residues and how to set up and interpret the results of a risk based sample plan within food factories and their supply chain. These findings have often been built into their individual quality management systems.
I have developed experimental hands on control methods to reduce Campylobacter within raw poultry and then presented results to industry leaders and FSA / Defra. This has led to Defra to propose changes to Eu food legislation on the processing of raw poultry.
I enjoy presenting at technical, retailer or supplier meetings and approach technical sales and process development in a consultative manner
