Lara Steen

I am a young microbiologist looking to build a career in QC microbiology in the Salisbury area. I have been working in a UKAS accredited laboratory for just under 3 years and am ready to put the skills I have learnt to good use and develop them further in a new role.

I have been working in a microbiology laboratory since October 2020. My role involved following company methodology and SOP's to process samples in compliance with UKAS ISO/IEC 17025 standards. I was tasked with daily calibration of equipment and environmental monitoring of the water laboratory premises.As I learned more I was promoted where my role moved to result reading and confirmation using traditional and newer biochemistry techniques.

I have been trained in result approval, AQC set up and participated in new equipment validation work as well as investigations into result anomalies and equipment failures.

First class batchelor degree with honours in Biology from the University of Portsmouth
