About

I am a graduate, Higher level teaching assistant who is proactive, confident, caring, assertive and an organised team player. I am committed to the safeguarding and the promotion of the welfare of young learners with a proven ability to motivate children to achieve their potential by stimulating their learning to support their desire to succeed. I have initiated resources and delivered learning support programmes.

In my current role, although in a large secondary setting, I manage the SEN and Inclusion Hub. This is a varied role and at times challenging, however the rewards in seeing pupils develop both socially and academically, to their ability, is very rewarding.

As Hub

Co-Ordinator I support school avoidance, behaviour and children with specific needs such as SPLD and SEMH. I am also Assistant to the Disadvantaged, Pupil Premium pupils in care. I hold PEP meetings, SAT Strat meetings and educational meetings with external agencies and care homes.

I have developed good relationships with both pupils and homes to maintain good communication between the home and school. In addition to this, I am a student coach to several pupils on the SEN register, as well as mentoring pupils with social and emotional needs. As part of my role, I plan Maths and English Language interventions/lessons from Key stage 2 level to Key stage 4.

Recently, I have focused on phonics and reading for EAL learners, English Language, Paper 1, Question 5, Descriptive writing (worth 50% of the GCSE) as well as AQA Entry Level exams and Past GCSE Maths papers (focusing on gaps in learning). The assessment of pupils for reading, maths and English are completed at the beginning of the year so I can assess what level of intervention is needed and direct Teaching Assistants to help me support this. Over the past five years, I have helped develop the Hub by being proactive, putting forward ideas to shape the Hub into a nurturing, safe learning environment where pupils feel their voices are heard. I also work alongside the SENCO, Assistant SENCO's, Attendance and Safeguarding and Guidance Teams, which enables me to have a full understanding of the pupils I am supporting.

Being a higher-level teaching assistant in my previous role allowed me to cover classes in a primary school setting, where I delivered a variety of lessons including establishing a French curriculum which when it was first introduced in 2010. I delivered the French lessons from Year 1 to Year 6. With this extensive knowledge it enabled me to give effective support as a teaching assistant supporting NQT's throughout my time in the role.

I am now ready for a new challenge and the opportunity to make a genuine difference in an ambitious and progressive school, whilst developing my skills to enable me to deliver fun, innovative learning to young learners.
