Social Media Manager/Content Creator and Lead Photographer at Vale of Lune RUFC (2024-01 – Present)
I started out doing the socials voluntarily as I wanted to know more information about what is happening at a weekend, so creating them allowed for more people to see it and come down to the club, creating positive business. I started to expand the range of things I was doing to create new content and appeal to a mass market through match day updates. This includes a schedule of a weekend game announcement on a Wednesday, and team sheets released on a Friday.
Throughout the actual match day, we have a reminder post in the morning about the game, a finalised team sheet 10 minutes before kick-off, and live score updates coming through on both Facebook and Instagram. I also include a 'try of the month' vote for all teams in the club that goes out on all platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. Another focus is to follow current trends and try to link them to a rugby style to post on social media platforms.
Released on YouTube the week after the game is a YouTube documentary about the previous week's game including behind the scenes footage and exclusive interviews with players. This has led to 50% increase in Instagram followers, as well as a 60% increase in Tik tok followers.
