I'm originally from a small town in Iowa. I joined the Air Force after graduating early from High School. That was the best decision of my life. It enabled me to travel all around the world, even after separating from active duty, I continued as a federal service employee. I enjoy my job a Safety and Occupational Health Program Manager and educating employees on how to protect themselves in the workplace.
Served as the principal authority on environmental, safety, and occupational health matters at DSCC, an OSHA Voluntary Protection Program Star Site, as well as eight DLA detachments which are located across four Naval Shipyards, one Naval Depot, and three Army installations. Provides expert level advice and consultation services to Executive Leadership (SES/General Flag Officer) ensuring they are kept abreast of safety and environmental issues as they arise and progress of mission accomplishments throughout the year.
Responsible for planning, management and execution of safety compliance, occupational health, and industrial hygiene programs for installation operations, tenant activities, and assigned mission activities. Conducting internal reviews and analyses of command operations to assess mission effectiveness, regulatory compliance Writing investigative reports to provide facts, analyses, conclusions, and/or recommendations. Ensuring command audit/inspection readiness (i.e. ensuring checklists are reviewed, requested documents are available, etc.) and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
Constantly display supervisory/management competencies including professionalism, leadership, teamwork, oral and written communication, strategic focus, responsibility and accountability, innovation and initiative, customer service and resource stewardship.
Supervised employees ranging in grades up to and including GS- 12. Interview candidates for new or vacant staff positions; recommend appointments, promotion or reassignment to these positions. Plans goals, objectives and work to be accomplished, interprets policy, procedures, and establishes priorities and tracks successful implementation of the environmental safety and occupational health (ESOH) program.
