My name is Nathaniel Carrothers. I currently work as a Network Troubleshooting Specialist for a cloud-based telecommunications hosting company. I am also currently attending a cyber security program through UNLV that is taught with a hands-on approach utilizing home lab environment tools such as Cisco Packet Tracer, Oracle VMWare, and TDXArena.
After 15 years as a chef, I felt I had reached an impasse where my goals no longer aligned with what I could achieve in the restaurant industry, and decided to take a leap of faith and pivot into the world of IT, InfoSec, and Cyber Security. I look forward to connecting with you on my new journey.
My experiences gained from 15 years in the restaurant industry have molded me into the resilient and steadfast individual that I am today. I have garnered communication skills, leadership skills, and critical thinking skills that translate well into any environment. The next chapter in my life is drawing me toward my alternative passion: the world of information technology.
My progress through the cyber security program at UNLV is a great first step towards actualizing this goal and coupled with the extra-curricular activities I do in my free time such as building computers and learning everything I can online, I truly believe I am on the path to becoming a proficient Information Security professional.
